Start with responsibility

Agree which controls are handled by the cloud provider and which remain with the business. The division changes with the service model. Hosted resources still need appropriate access and configuration.

Identity and permissions

Identify administrators, business users and service accounts. Assess authentication, least privilege and access reviews. Agree how staff join, change roles and leave.

Network and data controls

Review private connectivity, exposed services, storage permissions and data handling requirements. Credentials must be stored securely and excluded from website forms.

Monitoring and response

Define relevant logs, alert ownership and escalation. Agree how findings are reviewed and who can change the environment.

Assessment deliverables

A responsibility map, access inventory, prioritised configuration actions and an agreed operational review process. No environment is described as fully protected or certified without evidence.

Prepare for the assessment

Share the source environment, affected users, required outcome and business constraints. Scope, tools, platform coverage and delivery responsibilities are confirmed before implementation.
